What is Chlorella?

Chlorella is a very nutrient-rich microalgae. It is bred in pure spring water with much sunlight. The cultivation is constantly supervised by micro biologists in order to ensure that only the best quality is grown. Chlorella is spray-dried and is available as powder and tablets.
Although Chlorella is one of the oldest life forms of earth it was discovered only in 1890. It is regarded as one of the first members in the food chain which transformed the originally empty surface of our planet into a life-donating and green environment. Since about 1950 this microalgae has been thoroughly examined as food, particularly in Japan. Taking the lead off Japan and the USA Chlorella is today extremely popular and successful with the whole western world.

From the numerous nutrients the high content of 2 - 3 % chlorophyll is to emphasize. Chlorophyll is – as it is well known – the only natural substance that can pass the solar energy over the nutrition on to humans. Hence the name, which means freely translated "small green". The microalgae Chlorella is built very complex. It contains 19 amino acids, including 8 essential amino acids that have to be taken up with food as they cannot be form by the body. The protein in Chlorella is an equal to plant protein.
Furthermore Chlorella is a natural source of minerals and vitamins. Today we are more and more aware of the meaning of - for example - calcium and iron. But many other minerals and trace elements are just as important. The microalgae Chlorella contains many of them. These nutrients work as biocatalysts and help smoothing vital metabolistic processes.

That means: The digestibleness is very good. The cellulose components are at the same time favorable as fiber portion and as ballast material.
